Giveaway: #ElephantGirl by @JaneDevin

April 20, 2012 § 6 Comments

Yesterday, I entered Jane Devin‘s little twitter giveaway to win a kindle copy of her book. I already own a kindle and pdf copy of Elephant Girl and thought to pay it forward to someone who hasn’t had a chance to be impacted by this amazingly raw and heart-wrenching book. Thank you Jane, for letting me give away a copy of your memoir!

I thought to write a little review about the book here but decided not to because it would pretty much be summed up in endless stream of tears. And although this memoir is depressingly sad, it has its uplifting happy moments that make your heart warm.

I’ll make this short. Want to win a kindle copy of Elephant Girl?

Leave me one comment telling me about someone who has changed your life for the better and how. For an additional entry, tweet about this giveaway and leave the url in a separate comment.

One winner will be chosen at random using random.org on April 27th. Winner will be contacted via email so please make sure you enter a valid email address. If winner does not respond by Sunday afternoon, a new winner will be chosen using random.org.

It’s difficult to choose just one person that has changed my life for the better so I’m going to choose two. My husband who has made me a better person by watching how he works so hard in a manual labor job, comes home and takes care of me (I can’t do a lot of things due to a chronic pain disorder) and never complains. NEVER! How could I not be changed for the better?

Secondly, Becky Sherrick-Harks has changed my life for the better by allowing me to be a part of Band Back Together. Rather than sitting on the couch all day watching TV, I volunteer for Band Back Together and give back to society. Becky has no idea how grateful I am to her for creating and letting me be involved with The Band.

  • My daughter changed my life by helping me get my blog up. My son, her brother is a missing person, Cameron William Remmer, 29 from Oct. 6th from the SFO Fairmont Hotel this last year. Tweeting and blogging have really helped me get through this terrible time and my daughter knew how to really help me…writing.

There have been SO MANY influential people in my life. I think today, I’ll mention Aunt Becky and Band Back Together. I mean, besides that whole support and love thing, AB and BB2G have also offered a sense of purpose. Busting stigmas and all.

  • I second Jen’s comment – Aunt Becky and BB2g have changed my life significantly. I see the world completely differently now. I am more patient, kind and most importantly. less judgmental. Everyone has a story, and until I know that story, there is nothing for me to judge.
